Mattel says talking doll doesn’t promote Islam

October 10, 2008

A cooing baby doll or a toy with a religious message?

The toy company Mattel has fielded calls from consumers who wonder whether their Little Mommy Cuddle ‘n Coo doll, which giggles, gurgles and coos, is also mumbling, “Islam is the light.”  >>>>>

Let’s hope Western parents don’t seek a refund for their own kids if after hearing them mumble something innocent, yet irks the parents’ bigoted leanings.  Maybe the parents were offended by the hijab.  It seems like even dolls lost their ‘freedom of speech’ and ‘religious freedom’ after the Patriot Act —  In the meantime, I could probably use a few cases of these dolls, (for families of children who don’t fear baby talk) – at wholesale rates of course.

Obama condemns Ahmadinejad’s anti-Zionist UN remarks

September 24, 2008

CLEARWATER, Florida (AFP) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Tuesday condemned Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s anti-Zionist and anti-US remarks in his speech at the UN General Assembly.

“I strongly condemn President Ahmadinejad’s outrageous remarks at the United Nations, and am disappointed that he had a platform to air his hateful and anti-Semitic views,” Obama said in a statement. >>>>>

So, then does this mean that the change that Senator Obama has been seeking was from a just U.S. administration? Whatever points of change that Obama meant in his own campaign refers to precisely what Ahmadinejad was referring to. These are referred to as war crimes and violations of UN Resolutions, illegal occupations, murders, maiming, ethnic cleansing, kidnappings, false imprisonments, razing of lands, plunder and the list goes on. Aren’t people in Obama’s Democratic Party pushing for issues like impeachment; the withdrawal of troops from Iraq; war crimes indictments; restoring the previously removal of civil rights via the Patriot Act; and again the list goes on?

Is Sen. Obama pandering a bit too much? Where is the change he speaks about? If this is going to be the continuation of his efforts; then there will be little difference between the Republican and Democrat parties aside from a few collateral issues. As far as justice is concerned, Muslims are already at the bottom of that slope; they are just trying to avoid all others from avalanching on top of them.

Using Facebook as excuse to stir up Muslims

September 19, 2008

Korayem’s real and electronic worlds reverberate with paradox, inspiring him to ideological battle and, at times, leaving him conflicted. Perhaps more than the arcane logic of jihad websites or blogs by jailed political activists, the mainstream Facebook battle over religion will most influence the course of Islam and its relations with the West….

“Egypt is caught somewhere between Islam and a civil state,” Korayem said. “That’s why we have all this angst.” >>>>>

This is clearly an anti-Islamic puff piece.  The primary person in the article is clearly a secularist, using anti-Islamic arguments and attacks on the ideology of Islam.  His particular view is pointed out in ‘favorable’ terms.

To point to Islam as being opposite to that of a ‘civil state’ as is in the quote insinuates Islam as being barbaric or uncivilized perhaps. To mention that Muslims live in repressive governments while ignoring the relativity of how U.S. citizens live under the Patriot Act denotes a bit of ignorance about the writer’s own homeland.

It doesn’t surprise me that this type of story continues to exist.  The very fact that Muslims even defend their positions against misnomers and attacks within the story have a lot to do with the Muslim seeming antagonistic.

The arguments on Facebook against secularism also exist amongst other religious groups like Judaism and Christianity.  It is no surprise that this story of pitting a separatist Arab against Muslims is written by someone who seems to be an Islamophobe of Jewish descent.

What has been pointed out to me by a reader, and an interviewee of the reporter writing the story is the invaluable gain and work that Muslims do attain through dialogue with others.  One example is the information obtained by a Facebook group he is associated with, We the Muslim Youth Can Change The World, by a Brit who sought information on newly adopting Islam as her own religion.

Law Professor: Counter Terrorism Czar Told Me There Is Going To Be An i-9/11 And An i-Patriot Act

August 6, 2008

…”There’s going to be an i-9/11 event” which will act as a catalyst for a radical reworking of the law pertaining to the internet.  Lessig also revealed that he had learned, during a dinner with former government Counter Terrorism Czar Richard Clarke, that there is already in existence a cyber equivalent of the Patriot Act, an “i-Patriot Act” if you will, and that the Justice Department is waiting for a cyber terrorism event in order to implement its provisions. >>>>>
