Quebec’s double standard

Ms. Laouni was interviewed by outspoken popular radio host Benoit Dutrizac Wednesday. He asked her, “What is the difference between a good Muslim and an Islamist?” She replied: “I don’t know, I have never been around an extremist …”

Extremism has nothing to do with either a “good Muslim,” nor “an Islamist?”  A good Muslim is determined by God in their faith and deeds as He sees fit.  An Islamist is someone who believes in the principles of Islam to be incorporated into all spheres (including political) in his life.

Both the questioner, with the obvious suggestion that an Islamist is a bad thing; and the responder by connecting either of the two terms with extremism – are wrong.
