Rice pushes for political reforms in Tunisia

Speaking after talks with Ben Ali, Rice told reporters travelling with her on a tour of the Maghreb that Tunisia had made progress on advancing democracy but more could be done, especially in the run-up to the presidential elections.

“We have been very clear that we would hope Tunisia would do more, particularly in the lead up to the 2009 election, that media access, freedom of the internet and access to television for the opposition will be enshrined,” she added.  >>>>>
