Hindus get land for shrine in Kashmir; Islamist groups angry

The decision to allow the use of land by Hindus during the pilgrimage period in Muslim majority Anantnag district was reached at a six-hour meeting between members of the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS), which spearheaded the protests against revocation of land allotment mainly in Hindu-dominated Jammu region, and a four-member panel of the state government, said the PTI. Thousands of Hindus visit the Amarnath shrine every year in July and August to catch a glimpse of a stalagmite structure that is considered an icon of Hindu god Shiva.  >>>>>
